Career Highlights
I ran a 1k PR followed by a 3k PR an hour later. That was cool.
My high school cross-country team won the NJ State Championship in 2007. That was also cool.
Okay, back to being modest!

Geoff, thanks for taking some time to speak with us. Could you tell us a bit about yourself? How did you end up in Philadelphia and running with PRTC?

I’m 28 and I grew up in New Jersey so naturally I'm a Giants fan who likes the beach, a fresh haircut and a clean car. I have a twin sister and an older brother. I came to Philly in 2008 to study finance at Temple University. I ended up running with PRTC after hearing about the club from Tom Thomas. After taking a long break from competitive running, I finally decided it was time to join a club in order to hit my goals and also to make some new running friends.

When did you first become a runner? Did a specific event compel you to take on the sport?

I started running with my dad when I was 12. I was playing competitive soccer at the time, but found a new passion for running at my first 5k. I was instantly motivated to run faster so I eventually stopped playing soccer to pursue a running career.

As mentioned previously, Tom gets some credit for introducing us to you. Any fun stories from your first round as teammates at Temple?

It's definitely been awesome running with Tom more consistently again. Can't thank him enough for introducing me to Kevin and others on the team. Tom was easily the coolest guy in school who showed up to runs with a backwards hat and shoes that had 1000+ miles on them.

Can you tell us about a favorite running accomplishment or moment?

My favorite running moment was breaking 4:00 in the 1500 during my freshman year of college.

How about a not-so-great moment?

I broke my foot running the steeple chase during my junior year at Temple. I missed most of spring track, but I didn't sulk in the corner. I took the opportunity to experience college as a non-athlete. It was pretty awesome.

Regarding your running future, what are your near and long-term goals?

In the near term, my goal is to run sub 16:00 in the 5k. I'd also like to PR in the mile (4:23). I am a mid-distance guy at heart so I am aiming for shorter distance PRs before I start running longer distances. I plan to make my debut in a half marathon as well as the Philly marathon next year. Overall, my goal is to just stay healthy and run smart.

Any non-running related hobbies, hidden skills, or talents we may enjoy hearing of?

I like to travel and hike. I also like to play poker tournaments anytime I'm in AC.
