PRTC Weekly: 11/11/2019 (#8, Rocky, and More)

Race Results

Indianapolis, IN Crystal Bacon became PRTC's 8th Olympic Trial qualifier as she achieved her long-held goal of hitting the standard at this past weekend's Indianapolis Marathon!

Crystal, training under the McKirdy program, earned her spot in Atlanta after years of focused effort and training. She managed to do this while providing top-level coaching to one of our favorite local teams, Ursinus XC / Track & Field. We can’t wait to see her at trials!

Megan Feehan also ran Indianapolis in what was her 10th marathon. Megan's 3:18:41 represented a big breakthrough for her as it represented a roughly 13 minute PR. Way to go!

Simon Voorhees joined Crystal and Megan in Indiana where he opted for the half marathon. The day was fast for everyone, as Simon also ran an excellent race. His 68:25 was a 3 minute PR. Simon promptly flew back to Philly post-race to celebrate both his new PR and 26th birthday.

Washington Crossing, PA: Ian Penkala took the win at the Bucks County Marathon which was held on a mentally grueling 2x out and back course. Ian ran to the win by over 6 minutes with only the lead bike for company much of the way. His time of 2:54:19 was just shy of a new PR, excellent given the circumstances. Congrats!

Philadelphia, PA: Cody Amenguel and Kevin Brandon took on a very chilly Rocky Run Saturday morning. The pair worked together for the first half of the race before Cody created some distance on the return trip on West River Drive. This was Cody's 10-mile debut and a very encouraging race as he hit right around his goal of 5:20 miles. Kevin ran just below his goal pace, but thoroughly enjoyed going 1/2 with Cody on the day.

Cody Amenguel: 53:21 (1st)
Kevin Brandon: 54:04 (2nd)

He combined with 4 teammates to run a cumulative 2:35 time in the marathon distance. Bucknell (or Stucco as they prefer to be named) won the relay event by over an hour. Nice work!
