PRTC Weekly: 10/15/2018 (Jack Saint Clair and More)

Race Results

Philadelphia, PA: PRTC has repeated as Men and Women's Mid-Atlantic USATF Open XC Champions! A big thank you to all who showed up to the Jack Saint Clair Invite. We are excited to have won the support of our USATF association and look forward to representing PRTC, Philadelphia, and our sponsors in Washington State come December!

The men's team was led by Kieran Sutton and Josh Hibbs. The pair earned 1st and 2nd overall with strong performances. Kieran claimed his second win of the XC season at Belmont. Meanwhile, Josh impressed with a fast time followed by post-race workout. Alex Predhome played the role of a solid third man. Sean Clark made a welcome return to club racing and ran quite well. Chris Mateer grabbed the last scoring spot for the men. Alec Brand followed just a few seconds behind with David Choi and Nick Tuck (both making their club debuts!) next across the line. Max Krall completed the day for PRTC men at just a few seconds over 29 minutes with all club members scoring top 30. Team results (top 3) for men were: PRTC: 36; Haverford: 38; and Jefferson: 92.

The women easily dispatched of their competition with a score of 17 points on the day. Haverford (41) and Jefferson (85) rounded out the top 3. Margaret Vido claimed her 3rd win at Jack Saint Clair, followed by (defending champ!) Christine Eisenberg who ran nearly exactly her goal (sub 6 minute miles). Kristen Niedrach made her club debut and impressed a 3rd place overall finish! Abigail Cember won 5th overall with 24:01 and Lauren Kelly came through big for the club filling the critical 5th scoring position just one week after a big effort at the Chicago Marathon. Congrats to all!

Hartford, CT: Christine Ramsey took on the Hartford Marathon on Saturday morning. The race came at the end of a successful 20-week training cycle. Participants awoke to cool temperatures that turned into a steady rain just as the race began. Chrissie ultimately found these conditions weren't for her and exited the race around 19 miles with symptoms of hypothermia. Although this wasn't the result Chrissie had hoped for, we celebrate Chrissie's health, quality training cycle, and all the miles she ran with us in preparation. Looking forward to the next effort!

Reading, PA: Paul Matuszak raced the Reading Hospital Road Run on Sunday morning. His "Yelp" review: "Dear God, the course. I’ve never run anything like it before. I ran a 4:26. I ran a 6:24. I ran everything in between. I think I walked a half mile up a hill around mile 9." Despite the variant terrain, Paul managed to break 70 minutes for 13.1 miles. This was good for both 1st place and a new course record!
