It's nearly time for club elections! PRTC has (again) grown over the past year. We picked up Diadora as a sponsor, went from 50 to 70 members, revamped our website, and did our best to support all of our athletes.
Keeping the club healthy and growing takes a certain amount of work. To this tune our (all-volunteer) Board of Directors helps us behind the scenes and in public. Each director serves a one-year term when elected.
With your help we can achieve new heights in 2018-2019! Let us know if you'd like to pursue any of the below positions:
President: Works to set and achieve club goals. Provides support to all other board members. Maintains relationship with USATF. Seeks grants and manages sponsorships. Monitors membership. Updates website. Publishes weekly email.
Vice President: Manages finances, develops sponsorship opportunities, sets/meets fundraising goals, and takes on other tasks as desired/requested.
Men's Director: Recruits new members, manages men's roster, and sets up runs/workouts. Rallies membership in support of team goals like USATF Club XC Nationals, Mid-Atlantic Grand Prix, and other events. Other tasks as desired/requested.
Women's Director: Recruits new members, manages women's roster, and sets up runs/workouts. Rallies membership in support of team goals like USATF Club XC Nationals, Mid-Atlantic Grand Prix, and other events. Other tasks as desired/requested.
Communications Director: Manages our social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). Goals include: raising PRTC's profile, showcasing member results, and representing our sponsors. Other tasks as desired/requested.
Candidates will be announced on August 5th (next week). We will accept online votes from August 5th to August 12th. Reply to this email to declare your candidacy!
Note: We are open to creating non-board roles. We'd be especially interested in assistance with fundraising and organizing social events.
Mayor's Cup: Registration will remain open for Mayor's Cup until August 6th. Our club password is BullsEyeRed. Please sign up if you'd like to race with us! View our roster here.
Website: Help us keep our new website up to date by completing our roster survey here! We'd like to show everyone's most recent PR's, best pictures, and limited biographical info.
Davenport, IA: Colin Leak represented PRTC in Iowa at the 45th annual Quad-City Times Bix 7. He raced as part of the elite field. Colin faced some serious competition among the nearly 8,000 finishers including reigning NCAA 10k Champion Ben Flanagan and a number of other international entrants.
Colin's time of 34:52 (4:59/mile) was good for 14th overall. Great job!
