PRTC Weekly: 08/28/2018 Philly 10k Recap and More

Philly 10k Recap

Philadelphia, PA: PRTC had its largest ever showing at the Philly 10k. We had 30 members turn out for the 5th annual running of this proudly local event. A quick review of the results show that our runners helped make this year's field the fastest ever! Here follows an abbreviated race report:

The men's squad claimed 15 of the top 20 places. Duriel was first in for the club. A trusted source tells us he, "claimed to be out of shape and then smoked us all". His finish in 30:36 (behind the formidable Josh Izewski of ZAP Fitness) backs this report up. Other highlights (among many) included Chris Hatler's PRTC debut. Chris joins us as a Penn and District Track Club alumni. He impressed with third place. Josh Hibbs claimed 4th and Kieran Sutton rounded out the top 5. Steve Hallman had a fantastic race with his 32:18 finish. Colin McGrath (now dearly departed from Philly), Chris Mateer, and Alex Predhome completed the top 10. Other debuts include Nick Tuck (of Penn), Cole Rinehart (Dickinson), Tom Connelly (Penn), Matt Ferry (Dickinson), and Jesus Muniz (who won the 45-49 age division!). Great job to all who raced!

Our women's team placed individuals at first and second with the duo of Margaret Vido and Christine Ramsey. This marks Margaret's second Philly 10k win. Christine is also a past winner (2017). Margret's time of 35:04 broke the previous course record by over a minute (set by Margaret in 2016). Also of note, Christine beat her winning time from last year. Other highlights: Kinjal beat her previous best Philly 10k time. Irene Kalbian set a new 10k PR and Liz Barrett placed top 10. Lauren had a solid run while heavy into training for the Chicago Marathon. Caroline Dorey-Stein was top 25 with her 22nd place finish and Lindsay Jones embraced the 10k distance after taking on the mile earlier this summer. She placed 46th.

Post-race, runners were treated to beer from Philadelphia Brewing Company, shake shack, and other treats. Alec, Kieran, and Nick kindly hosted the team for an after-party just a few blocks from the start of the race. Rooftop views, race recaps, and flip cup were all enjoyed (particularly by Alec Brand and Chris Mateer).

Great job to all who raced and cheered!
