Race Results

Swarthmore, PA: PRTC caught some track action at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet. The most popular event among the club was the 5k where one heat featured nearly 60 runners. Dylan Gearinger was first in for PRTC with a very strong 2nd place finish in 14:22. Next up: a debut in the half marathon! Paul Matuszak followed his outstanding performance at Broad Street with another sub 15 effort. He placed 15th. David Choi pulled off a rare double-breakthrough on the season. He again(!) took 14 seconds off his 5k PR and came dangerously close to breaking 15 with a 15:03 finish. Wow, great job David! Chris Mateer (also coming off a strong Broad Street result) held out for a 15:35, good for 63rd.

Erica Long joined the 5k fun and recorded a big PR! Her 18:35 was earned 47th and lowered her record in the distance by nearly 30 seconds. Awesome! Not to be outdone, Maura Ryan showed off her speed in the 800m. Her 2:19.55 earned 16th overall AND a new club record for PRTC. Congrats, Maura!

Happily, "last chance" doesn't apply for post-collegiate runners. PRTC will still hit the track at several events this May and June. Speaking of which, shout out to Chris Hatler for taking on pacing duties throughout the evening. Stay tuned!

Montreal, Canada: Abby Cember enjoyed a spontaneous race in Canada while attending the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine Conference. The meeting organizers decided to kick the day off with a 5k. Abby signed up with hopes of taking an overall win. However, she was met with unexpected competition from two fellow attendees (PhD students from Sweden and the Netherlands). Her 18:25 placed 3rd (off of 4 hours sleep!) and she  "cooled down" with the 1st and 2nd place finishers by running up Mount Royal. What an experience!

Cape May, NJ: Caroline Dorey-Stein (fresh off a Broad Street PR!) went down the shore to take on the Great Cape May Footrace. She selected the 10k distance which must have felt like a breeze after 10 miles. Caroline won the event in 40:03. Way to go!

Philadelphia, PA: Tommy McClellan placed 5th at the Dirty German 25k. This event, at Penny Pack Park, is considered an urban ultra, perfect for Tommy. He did well in the race running under 2 hours and placing 5th. His effort won him a cuckoo clock which we are sure he will enjoy!
