Duluth, MN: Five club members chased the prospect of PR's and OTQ's to Minnesota's North Shore for Grandma's Marathon. This race runs from Two Harbors to Duluth and attracted nearly 9,000 runners. Participants were thrilled to wake up on race day to ideal conditions and all ran fast times!

Matt Kane logged the first of many PR's with a 2:25:17. His 57th place finish marked a 12 minute improvement upon his previous fastest marathon. While his initial goal was to hit the 2:19 OTQ time, he made a mile 14 reassessment and wisely adjusted his race plan. This allowed him to reach mile 20 in relative comfort and preserved his ability to finish with confidence and record such a large PR. Cain Leathers followed Matt for 136th with a time of 2:41:51. He negative split the race and was excited to have a productive test of a newly revamped foot strike. Cain next aims to take on the Philly Marathon in November.

Crystal Bacon began a set of very successful races for our three female finishers. She came agonizingly close to an OTQ (2:45:37) and set a new PR by almost 15 minutes! Crystal credits her fast race to a mostly healthy training cycle and guidance from her coach, James McKirdy, of McKirdy Trained. Anne Marie Everhart joined Crystal in the 2:45's at 2:45:56. This was a huge PR for her and a great benchmark to hit as she strives to join our OTQ's. Anne Marie worked alongside training partner and friend Jenny Goswami for much of the race. Jenny completed our PR's for the day with a fantastic result of 2:47:10. This too was a great sign in the OTQ quest and a nice improvement over her previous best in the distance of 2:52.

Great work all. We are super excited to see each of you toe the line again and hope all enjoy some well deserved R&R!
