Adrenaline Results

Haddonfield, NJ:  Thirteen PRTC members traveled across the Ben Franklin Bridge on Saint Patrick’s Day morning to compete in the thirteenth running of the Adrenaline 5k. Race director Dave Welsh (dressed in a leprechaun suit) welcomed all to the starting line as bagpipes played making for an appropriately festive atmosphere.

Chris Mateer led the way for PRTC’s men’s team taking 5th overall with 15:14 in a deep field. He looks well on his way to achieving his sub 15-minute 5k goal later this season. Colin McGrath recorded a major PR with his 9th place finish in 15:23. Michael Moore made his debut with PRTC and immediately scored for us in the Grand Prix Challenge. Steve, Pat, Mike Vido, and Harsha all raced this 5k in the midst of marathon training. Pat edged out Mike (or as he may say “smoked Mike”) in a matchup soon to be repeated at the Boston Marathon. Ross Martinson (a past winner of the Adrenaline 5k!) made a welcome return to racing for PRTC. Ross placed 3rd master while Harsha took 2nd by a margin of just 1 second!

On the women’s side, Margaret Vido battled with Spring Greeney of Bryn Mawr Running Club throughout the race. She ultimately took 2nd overall after a sprint to the finish. Christine Eisenberg, in her first road race with PRTC, performed admirably. She went under 17:30 and earned 3rd overall. Christine Ramsey was next in allowing PRTC to go an impressive 2, 3, 4 for overall women. Lauren Kelly placed 8th with 18:14 as she continues to make nice progress in returning to racing. Aliah Molczan, training for Broad Street, ran 20:48 good for 31st female.

Also of note – we greatly improved our standing in the USATF Mid-Atlantic Grand Prix Challenge. We WON best age-graded club score of the day by 10 points. This effort moves us from 4th place to 2nd. We trail Greater Philadelphia Track Club by just 6 points. As a reminder, we see the club challenge as a fun way for PRTC to race as a team while also competing for funding. 1st pays out $1,200. 2nd is rewarded with $900 and 3rd earns $675. Rules here. Info on age grading here. Standings here (will be updated shortly).
